Xavi places 3 Barcelona players up for sale
Xavi Hernandez, Barcelona’s new manager, is expected to sell three players in the January transfer window.
Following the resignation of Ronald Koeman last month, Xavi was named as Barcelona’s new manager on Friday.
Barcelona revealed the former midfield maestro at Camp Nou on Monday.
After saying his farewell to Qatari side Al-Sadd, the 2010 World Cup winner signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Barcelona.
The manager wants to shed three players, according to Fichajes: Samuel Umtiti, Luuk de Jong, and Neto, as he strives to enhance his team.
According to the article, Xavi has informed Barcelona president Joan Laporta of his plans to sell the trio, with the hopes of freeing up funds to bring in a few players of his preference.
Umtiti has been out of favour since last season, De Jong was a Koeman signing who has struggled to make an impact at Barcelona thus far, and Neto has no chance of unseating goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen at Camp Nou.
Meanwhile, he will seek to lead Barcelona to victory following the international break when they face Espanyol on November 20.
