Sad! Lagos Uber Driver, Anthony Okafor Dies While Conveying His Passenger
Anthony Okafor, an Uber driver, was reported died while transporting a passenger, said to be a reverend sister, to a destination in Lagos State.
According to the report, Okafor, the Uber driver picked up the woman from Ikeja airport and began coughing and gasping for breath in the Egbeda area, where he stopped the car.
His condition was said to have deteriorated after some kind strangers rushed him to a hospital for treatment.
According to a source, Okafor drove a Toyota Camry with the license plate EPE 869 GK.
“He was rushed to the Talent Hospital in Egbeda, Lagos State, where he was confirmed dead on Saturday, August 21, 2021,” he added.
His body, which was deposited in the morgue of the Mainland General Hospital, bore no signs of violence.
According to another source, Okafor’s remains had been released to his family for burial.
He said, “His death could have been caused by stress. His wife was also at the scene of the incident to see things for herself.”
CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, the state Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, had ordered a post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
“The deceased suddenly fell sick while driving. He was immediately rushed to a hospital for medical attention but was confirmed dead at the hospital.
“Although it is a suspected case of sudden and unnatural death, the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has directed that a post-mortem should be carried out to determine the actual cause of death. The case is under investigation.”
