Two suspected kidnappers were arrested at the point of collecting ransom in Ogun State
On Sunday, October 3rd, two alleged kidnappers were apprehended by men from the Ogun State Police Command while attempting to collect the ransom money.
Muhammed Abubakar, 42, and Clinton Niche, 18, were nabbed after a report was submitted at Agbara Area Command by one Stephen Ajibili, who alleged that his seven-year-old son, Daniel Ajibili, was taken by unknown men while being dispatched on an errand by his mother at around 11:20 a.m. Ajibili went on to say that the kidnappers had called him and demanded one million naira in exchange for his son’s release.
As a result of the report, CSP Kayode Shedrack, the acting area commander in Agbara, promptly organized his detectives to launch a technological and intelligence-based investigation to uncover those responsible for the heinous conduct. The investigators’ efforts were rewarded when the suspects who had led the victim’s parents to drop the ransom money elsewhere were ambushed and caught. The suspects then led the officers to a thicket, where the abductors chained the innocent young child to a tree.
The suspects told the police that they were three in number, but that the last member of their gang was the one who kept an eye on their victim while they went out to collect the ransom. He instantly fled after learning that his two accomplices had been apprehended.
While the acting commissioner of police, DCP Abiodun Alamutu, has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department’s anti-kidnapping section for discreet investigation, he has also directed that the fleeing member of the gang be hunted, according to the state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi.
