With these warmup jerseys for their pre-Olympics game against Australia, the D’Tigers pay tribute to the famous Sound Sultan. He was a big basketball fan.
D’Tigers, a Nigerian basketball team, has decided to honour late music superstar Sound Sultan with warm-up kits depicting him within a map of the country.
At the age of 44, Sound Sultan moved on to glory on Sunday, July 11th, 2021. He is remembered as a trailblazer in music as well as a basketball fanatic.
He previously represented the Dodan Warriors in basketball. He bought shares in the Lagos Islanders basketball team in 2015 with the help of investors. Following that, he became a facilitator for the African Basketball League and was one of the first NBA African Games’ special visitors.
Following the African Basketball League’s demise, the legendary singer signed an agreement with the Continental Basketball League’s organizers to become a team owner of the Lagos City Club and a facilitator of the league’s entertainment.
Here’s the tweet from D’Tigers:
WE LOST A MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY THIS WEEK.
D’TIGERS WILL HONOR THE GREAT SOUND SULTAN WITH THESE WARMUP SHIRTS TONIGHT.
