On Monday evening, Everton made an official statement announcing that a footballer had been suspended and that they will assist the police with any investigations.
A statement released on the club’s official website reads: “Everton can confirm it has suspended a player pending a police investigation.
“The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time.”
Gylfi Sigurdsson is the footballer under investigation by Manchester police for an alleged sex crime against a kid, according to a website in Iceland.

Due to media rules in the United Kingdom, tabloids such as the Daily Mail and The Sun did not name the footballer when reporting the arrest.
The Everton player in question is married, 31 years old, and routinely plays for his Icelandic national team, according to reports. Sigurdsson is 31 years old and married to Alexandra Varsdóttir, an Icelandic beauty queen.
