Salah is the world best ahead of Ronaldo and Messi

The Liverpool star has had an incredible start to the new season, cementing his legacy at Anfield while also having the potential to reach new heights globally.

It wasn’t even a tenth of a percent probability, was it?

Salah had his back to goal and three defenders to contend with as he collected the ball from Jones in the 76th minute of Liverpool’s match against City. He was encircled and blanketed in the penalty area’s left corner. There is no real danger.

Salah left Cancelo and Foden for dead in an instant, with the most magnificent combination of talent, strength, balance, and cleverness. Silva was placed on his backside by him. Then he skinned Aymeric Laporte before firing past Ederson with stunning precision.

“Only the best players in the world score goals like this,” the Liverpool boss added. “Absolutely exceptional.”

Is there anyone in world football right now who is better than Salah? It’s a reasonable question. For years, the Egypt international has been a star, but his level has rarely, if ever, been better than it is right now.

“I don’t think there’s anyone better in the world at this moment, I really don’t,” said On Sunday, Jamie Carragher, a former Liverpool defender, and Chris Sutton, a Premier League winner with Blackburn Rovers, agreed on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“We don’t have to get into the whole ‘is he better than [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo?’ thing,” Sutton said. “At this moment in time, he’s better than them.”

Given Salah’s current form, it’s difficult to disagree. He has nine goals and three assists so far this season. If we want to make a comparison, Ronaldo has five goals, while Messi has ‘only’ contributed that amazing score against Manchester City since joining PSG.

Salah, on the other hand, has scored in each of his previous seven games, tying his personal best set during his debut season at Liverpool in 2017-18. He scored 44 goals in all competitions that season, and based on previous evidence, he will not fall much short of that total this time around.

“What he’s done for so many years is just incredible, and I hope he’ll be around for many years to come.”

No Reds fan would argue with that. However long Salah remains on Merseyside, he should be cherished, enjoyed, adored. We may never see his kind again.

The best in the world? He just might be.
