Roman Abramovich releases cash for the purchase of Dortmund star, Erling Haaland for £150m
According to reports, Roman Abramovich has given Chelsea the finances to sign Borussia Dortmund attacker Erling Haaland for £150 million this summer.
The 20-year-old Norwegian, who scored 41 goals in 41 games for the German side last season, would join Manchester United for £73 million, following England international Jadon Sancho.
According to BILD, Abramovich has set aside funds for Chelsea to buy Haaland this summer, but the club will have to shed some attacking players to complete the transaction.
According to the report, attacking trio Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham, and Hakim Ziyech are among the players who might be let go at Stamford Bridge if the west Londoners win the race for Haaland.
Hudson-Odoi, who was close to joining Bayern Munich in 2020, has only started seven Premier League games since Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel took over after Frank Lampard was fired in January.
Despite thye fact that Abraham was Chelsea’s and FA cup’s top scorer last season, the young striker was left out of the matchday squad for the clash against Leicester City in the FA Cup final.
Meanwhile, Ziyech was also a constant presnece in Tuchel’s team during the attacker’s first season at Stamford Bridge, where he was able to make 39 appearances and scoring only six goals.
The German Tabloid reports that the club looks to sell all three players as this would yield approximately a sum of £90 million which woiuld be used for incoming transfers.
Olivier Giroud is another Chelsea forward who is anticipated to leave this summer.
Last week, Sportsmail learned that the Frenchman is close to signing a two-year contract with AC Milan, and that he will travel to Italy next week to finalize the deal.
