BUSTED!! MTN Staff Lands In Police Net After Doing This
Clement Idenyi, an MTN employee, has been arrested after reportedly vandalizing his employer’s mast and stealing the generator.
Clement, an MTN site engineer, is accused of leading three others and masterminding the theft of a power generator from an MTN mast in the Sango-Ota region of Ogun State.
Orogade Olalere, Ademola Adekunle, and Tunde Adewale were among the other suspects apprehended on Sunday.
According to reports, their arrest came after the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Sango Ota police station received information that the gang had finalized preparations to break into the mast and steal the FG Wilson brand generator at 7, Akintun Street.
The DPO, CSP Godwin Idehai, dispatched his surveillance team to cordon off and monitor the area based on the information.
The suspects came at the spot at 5 a.m. with a Hiab truck, which they used to raise the generator, unaware that they were being watched.Read also:MTN Is Making Life Harder For Nigerians —Nigerians Lament Alleged Plans to Frustrate SMEs
On Monday, Abimbola Oyeyemi, an Ogun police spokesman, revealed to Daily Post that the policemen swooped on them as soon as they lifted the generator into the truck and captured three of the accused.
During questioning, Oyeyemi told the Daily Post that the police learned that “the site engineer, Clement Idenyi, was the mastermind of the crime.”
“Further inquiry indicated that Tunde Adewale is the person in question.
He had already been contacted and agreed to buy the generator from them if they were successful in stealing it; he also gave them logistics to make the crime easier, so he was detained as well,” Oyeyemi claimed.
Meanwhile, while praising his officers, Commissioner of Police Edward Ajogun ordered a thorough inquiry into the case in order to arraign the culprits.
