Domestic Violence: How A Mother Of Four Children Allegedly Battered By Her Husband

Mother Of Four Children Allegedly Battered

A man was reported to have viciously battered his wife, leaving her with marks all over her body.

Mrs Ronke Akinyemi, who lives at Raimi Street, Ahmadiyya, Ojokoro, Agbado-Ijaiye, Lagos State, was allegedly attacked at their Lagos house by her husband and father of their four children, Mr Olatunji Akinyemi.

Mr Olatunji is reported to have taken a new wife on July 4, 2021, and he is accused of physically abusing his first wife since then.

A source with knowledge of the issue contacted Linda Ikeji’s Blog, requesting that the woman be saved before it’s too late and she succumbs to the assault.

Mrs Ronke claimed to LIB that the latest beating occurred because she begged her husband to assist sponsor their first son after he was admitted to a school.

Mrs Ronke stated that she sells fruits, but due to a long-standing illness, she is limited in how much labour she can perform and hence cannot handle her children’s schooling on her own.

Her husband allegedly assaulted her for asking for their son’s school expenses, and she was told to go look for the money.

He allegedly pursued her around with his car after hitting her and threatening to murder her.

Mrs. Ronke alleges her husband claims he can’t afford to send their son to school but has enough money to marry another woman.

She stated that she and Mr Olatunji had been dating for nearly 20 years, although they only married in 2006. She claims she has been abused by him since then, but it has gotten worse after he married a second wife.

Mrs Ronke claimed that her husband’s younger brother also tried to beat her after the recent beating, so she went to human rights campaigners, who got her a letter allowing her to undergo treatment at the Orile-Agege General Hospital.

She explained that his family has been fighting her ever then, accusing her of attempting to get their son arrested.

The lawmakers should matter of urgency enact a law to protect women from a battery. If there are laws, domestic violence and abuse will go on unabated.

It is so bad. How can a man rough handle his wife in such a manner and inflict injuries on her body with such impunity?

You will be shocked to hear his response, if he was asked why he mercilessly beat up his wife.  He is a Chief Commander of his home.
