‘Messi played with ME’ – Eto’o replies about his time with the Argentine
Before the Cameroonian left Barcelona it was clear that the Argentine, Messi was the star player of the team under the then coach, Pep Guardiola.

Eto’o has long said that Messi is the greatest footballer of all time, but when a journalist claimed that he played alongside Messi at Barcelona, the 40-year-old felt compelled to correct the record.
‘You mention Messi, what can he [Ansu Fati] learn from Messi? You obviously played with him…’ the reporter asked.
Messi debuted for Barcelona in October 2004 and was quickly promoted to a team that included superstars like as Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Xavi, and Deco.
Messi has long been Barcelona’s marquee player, despite the fact that his contract expired last month and he is now a free agent.
The 33-year-old is likely to pledge his future to Barcelona, with rumors claiming that he will accept a significant pay cut due to the club’s financial difficulties.
‘I can’t imagine Leo with another shirt. It is his club, his home, his love,’ he said via Goal.
‘I do not think that his continuity is due to a question of money. Leo is Barcelona and Barcelona is Messi.
‘I know [president Joan] Laporta is preparing a reliable, interesting project for him.’
