After her automobile broke down in Lagos, a Nigerian woman described how police officers assisted her.
@calabarberry described them as “excellent police officers” who “totally assisted her” and “noticed” that her “fan” was not working. She went on to say that they didn’t take anything from her and that they sympathized with her. ”

Senior police officials pilfer massive quantities of public monies from the top down. For instance, in 2012, the former Inspector General of Police, Sunday Ehindero, was charged with embezzling 16 million Naira and was found guilty.

Officers extortion is so ingrained in Nigeria that Nigerians are more likely to encounter police demanding bribes than upholding the law, according to a 102-page report by Human Rights Watch. Nigeria’s political situation is understandable.
