Jumoke Oyeleke’s mother, demands justice for her daughter, the salesgirl who was allegedly killed by a stray bullet during the Yoruba Nation rally in Lagos on Saturday, June 3.

Reports state that protesters gathered on Saturday for the Yoruba Nation rally at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in the Ojota area for a protest.

While the rally was going on, police reportedly fired gunshots, tear gas canisters and cannon water to scattere the protesters and Jumoke, who was displaying drinks at her boss’ shop in a compound close to the rally ground, was hit by a stray bullet .

The Lagos state police command had released a statement denying the reports that a stray bullet from the police killed a lady (read here).

The spokesperson of the state police command, CSP Ademuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the report was false and just a calculated attempt to create confusion and instigate fear in the state. He said that the police never fired any live bullet while the police dispersed the protesters.

However, Ifeoluwa, the mother of the victim, who is 25 and not 14 years old as widely reported, has emerged to claim her daughter was killed by the police.
