Is yours a relationship or a situationship?
Is yours a relationship or a situationship?: The primary characteristic of a situationship is its lack of knowledge. And this isn’t about being in a bad circumstance because you didn’t know what you were doing.
You’re aware of the situation. You’re well aware that this isn’t the way things should be. You know there should be labels someplace, and something should be defined – yet there’s always a hesitation, a fear of the unknown. You’re afraid that seeking clarity would disturb what you have and send every wobbly illusion on which you’ve staked your hopes crashing down like a house of cards.
You don’t feel like you’re single in a situationship, but you also don’t feel like you’re in a committed relationship. It’s also the realization that you’re getting less than you want, as well as the assistance.
You don’t feel like you’re single in a situationship, but you also don’t feel like you’re in a committed relationship. And, above all things, a situationship is defined by the knowledge that you’re getting less than you want and the powerlessness you feel in trying to alter it.
