Is It Wrong For A Soldier To Resign From Serving In Nigerian Army?
A Nigerian Army soldier has taken to social media to express his outrage after being allegedly brutalized by his former colleagues for seeking to retire.
The battered guy said in a video published online by renowned Nollywood actress Rita Edochie that he had handed in his resignation letter to his bosses and was simply waiting for his perks to be paid. He claimed that his commander refused to accept his resignation and instructed others to beat him up.
On the orders of their commander, the ex-serviceman claimed he was arrested, locked up in the 81st battalion guard room, and dehumanized by his former colleagues. He claimed he asked what his offence was but received no reasonable response and that they instead continued to beat him, leaving him with a bleeding face and bruises all over his body.
“I don’t know what I’ve done,” he said. Look at the injury I’m suffering from. They abused me and imprisoned me for no apparent reason. Look at how I’m bleeding, at my hand, at my body. They smacked me everywhere, even my scrotum.
Taking into consideration the security challenges rocking the Nigerian army, is it wrong for a Nigerian soldier to voluntarily withdraws his or her service without being brutalized. Let’s hear from you.
