Wahala! Housewife Jailed After Confessing To Adultery In Abuja Court
On Wednesday, a 32-year-old housewife was sentenced to prison. A Gwagwalada Magistrates’ Court in Abuja ruled the woman, named Justice Kayode, guilty.
For adultery, she has now been sentenced to six months in prison.
The court, on the other hand, granted the second accused N200,000 bail.
According to the police, Kayode and her sexual partner, Iroghama Charles, both of Chukukun village, Gwagwalada, Abuja, has been charged with three counts of criminal conspiracy and adultery by man and woman.
Charles works for the government.
After pleading guilty to the charges, Magistrate Yusuf Ibrahim sentenced Kayode to six months in prison with the option of an N5,000 fine.
Charles was granted bail in the amount of N200,000 with two acceptable sureties in the same amount.
The sureties must live within the court’s jurisdiction and have a valid address, he said.
He stated that the sureties must present identification and sign an affidavit promising to forfeit the bail bond if the prisoner fails to appear in court.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abudullahi Tanko, had previously informed the court that the complainant, Kayode Akande, of Chukukun Gwagwalada, Abuja, had reported the case to the police station on July 13th.
Tanko claimed that while the first defendant was still married to the complainant, she had sexual relations with the second defendant outside of her marital residence.
The act, he said, resulted in a pregnancy, which the defendants terminated.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, were in violation of sections 96, 388, and 387 of the Penal Code.
