HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES DISMISSED THE MOTION TO LIFT TWITTER BAN
The House of Representatives, today Thursday 1st of July 2021, dismissed the lifting of the Twitter suspension.
The dismissal came while the House was thinking about the report of its Committee on the matter.
Review that the House had ordered its Committees on Information, ICT, Intelligence, Justice and Orientation to explore the conditions of the suspension by the government.
At the thought of the report, the Deputy Minority Leader of the House, Toby Okechukwu proposed a revision to one of the proposals.
It expresses “That the Federal Government should take into cognizance the negative effect of the Twitter suspension on Nigerians who depend on the platform for their livelihood,” and lift the ban.
But at the end of the whole negotiation, the majority members of the house supported that the movement should be dismissed as the majority carries the vote
