Bayern Munich’s Hernandez handed 6-month jail term for disobeying a restraining order on domestic violence against his wife
Following a 2017 conviction of domestic abuse against his wife, Amelia Ossa Llorente, Lucas Hernandez of Bayern Munich and France was sentenced to six months in prison by a Madrid court for disobeying a restraining order.
Hernandez, 25, was refused an appeal by a criminal court in Madrid against a previous suspended prison term for breaching the restraining order, according to a court document released on Wednesday, Oct 13.
According to the document, he was refused the appeal because he had previously received two criminal penalties, all of which were related to the February 2017 incident.
He has been summoned to appear in court in Madrid on October 19, after which he has 10 days to enter prison voluntarily.
Hernandez has filed an appeal against the most recent order.
In February 2017, while playing for Atletico Madrid, the footballer was sentenced to 31 days of community service for abusing his then-girlfriend, who is now his wife. He was also issued a restraining order prohibiting him from coming within 500 meters of his partner, who was also sentenced to 31 days of community service for assault, violence, and property damage.
In June 2017, Hernandez was arrested for violating the restraining order.
