The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has said that the insecurity will be minimal if parents are more responsible in the upbringing of their children.
He maintained that while the government would strive to make society better, parents must nurture their children to become good citizens.
The hint was dropped by Wike’s Special Assistant, Media, Kelvin Ebiri, who said the governor spoke at the solemnization of holy matrimony between Pearl Ile and Bobby Elechi, at St Peter Anglican Church, Rumuepirikom Deanery, Port Harcourt. The governor, represented by his Chief of Staff, Emeka Woke, said he attended the wedding because the couple had distinguished themselves as responsible citizens.
He said: “We believe that if parents are responsible for the upbringing of their children, the society will be responsible, and the responsibility of the government to tackle insecurity will be minimal.”
Wike advised the couple to practice the teachings of the church. He described the groom’s father, Sir Mike Elechi, as a dependable, reliable, and staunch political ally, who had always supported his political career.
