‘Gbajabiamila voices concern over banks’ ‘hidden’ charges, exploitative marketing in Nigeria’
Femi Gbajabiamila, the current speaker of the house of representatives has on Monday spoken his mind and laid concern about the way banks instill outrageous charges on customers and decried that apart from known charges, there appeared to be other ‘hidden’ charges that banks imposed on their customers.
Gbajabiamila noted this on the visit of the board of the standard chartered bank Lamin Manjang, Chief executive officer of Standard chartered bank. He also noted that the House was concerned that such a practice was making customers helpless, called on Nigerian banks to come up with ways to address high charges on loans and other facilities they offered.
According to a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi which was titled ‘Gbajabiamila voices concern over banks’ ‘hidden’ charges, exploitative marketing in Nigeria’ , Gbajabiamila noted that there indeed trivial issues in the banking sector and the visit was indeed a welcomed opportunity to sort things out.
He also expressed concern over the kind of ‘exploitative marketing’ some bank marketers were subjected to, asking if that was the practice all over the world.
