Shocking! Ex-Wife To Femi Fani-Kayode Tells Court That FFK Is Not Fit To Raise Children
Precious Chikwendu, the estranged wife of former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, has told the Court of Appeal in Abuja that her ex-husband does not have the parenting capacity to cater for their four children.
Chikwendu said that their oldest child had dropped out of school and that their triplets had yet to begin.
Following their split in August 2020, the former beauty queen and Femi Fani-Kayode have been locked in a child custody fight, according to TheNigeriaLawyer.
The plaintiff had claimed in her complaint before an Abuja High Court that Fani-Kayode had beaten her up multiple times, even when she was pregnant, and demanded a monthly payment of N3.5 million for the upkeep of their four sons.
Fani-Kayode had sought to Judge Sylvanus Orji of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja, through his lawyer Adeola Adedipe, to have the suit dismissed or the apparent serving of the proceedings filed by Chikwendu on him set aside.
The court, however, dismissed Fani-plea Kayode’s and assumed jurisdiction over the matter, a decision that the ex-minister appealed to the Abuja Court of Appeal.
Justice Orji further ordered that Fani-Kayode be issued with a new hearing notice as well as the originating motion.
Fani-Kayode, who was dissatisfied with the verdict, filed a notice of appeal on March 25, 2021, stating that the court had denied him a fair hearing.
The former minister sought the Court of Appeal to issue an order remanding the case to the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court for reassignment and determination by a different judge.
Chikwendu responded to the appeal in a file at the Court of Appeal’s registry, alleging that the former aviation minister had abused their four sons since their divorce.
Chikwendu submitted images supposedly showing Fani-Kayode and his entourage visiting numerous state governors across Nigeria in an affidavit dated June 28, 2021.
Several females and the four children might be seen with Fani-Kayode in other images.
“The appellant (Fani-Kayode) employs nannies and different women whom I reasonably believe to be his girlfriends, and posts pictures of them together on various social media platforms all in a bid to spite me,” the court documents filed by Ms Chikwendu’s lawyer, Terkaa Aondo, read in part.
She accused Fani-Kayode of denying her access to their children since August 2, 2020, using security officials attached to him.
Chikwendu added that the former minister is fond of travelling and leaving the children at the mercy of his girlfriends and nannies, saying for that reason, he is unfit to take care of the four children.
“That I am worried about my children’s education status as my first son was stopped from going to school since August 2020, and the triplets who are due for school are not in school or given education access.
“That as a young mother, I have been traumatized and physically assaulted by the appellant who is all out in a bid to forcefully take away the children from me and further delay this appeal.
“That there is a need that I preserve my right and interest and that of my children who are minors.”
She further claimed that if her application is not granted soon, the former minister “may make good on his threat of transferring my four children out of the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, denying me an opportunity to see them again.”
Fani-response Kayode’s to the claims has yet to be filed.
The former minister and Chikwendu, a former beauty queen, started dating in 2015 and welcomed a kid in 2016. In May of 2018, the couple welcomed triplets into their family.
