Damilola Adegbite Opens Up On Failed Marriage
Damilola Adegbite, a Nigerian actress, is speaking out about her failed marriage to Ghanaian actor Chris Attoh. The actress talks about how her career turned out to be a piece of cake and how she was able to come out of her marriage scandal unscathed. In an interview, the former ‘Tinsel’ star stated that she has not regretted their decision to split up.
For her, the most important thing right now is that Chris is a father to their son. Both actors got engaged in 2014 and welcomed their son, Brian, a month later, after finding the perfect romance in their fellow actor.
This perfect haven came crashing down unexpectedly for the actress three years into the marriage, and the news had gone viral. According to her, love is insufficient, and this is a common mistake made by prospective suitors during courtship. She claims that love is not the ultimate ingredient that binds partners together and makes them inseparable.
Damilola Adegbite reiterated that the failed marriage had taught her valuable lessons that could shape her future relationships with other potential suitors.
“My marriage didn’t work but I learned a massive lesson from that experience and it is that love is not enough…when you meet someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, love is not enough…for me, it is done, the only regard I have for him now is that he is the father of my son, I don’t regret anything.”
She goes on to explain how the popular marriage mentality differs from hers and how it does not fit into her lifestyle. According to her, a failed marriage is not the tragedy that many people portray it to be. God does not predestine every marriage. She recalls how she fought and prayed tirelessly until the marriage ended, and how she knows in her heart that she did her best. Despite the ups and downs of the past few years, the actress has maintained a sense of peace and self-awareness while making waves in her career.
In her own words, “You just have to ride that wave, just be strong and ride it if that’s what you have found yourself in”.
