Christiano Ronaldo: 23 reasons why CR7 can’t stop scoring

Christiano Ronaldo: 23 reasons why CR7 can’t stop scoring

CR7’s ability to score defies sense. At 36, this son of a cook and gardener is still scoring goals and setting records, and his adoring fans all over the world can’t get enough of him.

He scored twice in that ill-fated match against Lyon, breaking a 94-year-old Juventus record. With those two goals, he scored 37 goals in all competitions for the season, the most ever by a Juve player and breaking the mark set by Ferenc Hirzer in 1925/26 when he scored 35 goals.

Ronaldo had already equalled the club’s single-season Serie A goal tally and had also become the league’s fastest player to reach a half-century of goals in only 61 appearances.

He has 132 spectacular goals in the Champions League for Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, and is regarded as the king of the competition by his adoring fans. In addition, he has set numerous records in the various leagues across which he has competed, as well as in Europe.

Ronaldo, of course, has nothing left to prove. He has five Ballons d’Or and four Golden Shoes in Europe. He has seven league titles, five UEFA Champions Leagues, one UEFA European Championship, and one UEFA Nations League trophy to his credit. He is also one of the few players who have made over 1,000 professional career appearances and scored over 700 senior career goals for club and country, with 130 goals and 40 assists in the UEFA Champions League’s history.

Here are 23 reasons why the striker from Portugal can’t seem to quit hitting goals.

    1. He’s a multi-talented attacker.

    2. He is his own competitor, always striving to outperform his previous efforts.

    3. He has the ability to play on either wing as well as in the middle of the pitch.

    4. He is strong with both feet, despite being right-footed.

    5. Both with and without the ball, he is a dangerous player on the field of play.

    6. He dribbles well and is quick with the ball.

    7. He also has good heading accuracy, as seen by the fact that several of his goals have been headers.

    8. He possesses a variety of tricks and feints that have become his signature, including stepovers and so-called ‘chops.’

    9. He’s also been known to employ the flip–flap technique.

    10. He made a significant physical shift as he grew older, developing a powerful body type and physique that allows him to keep possession of the ball and resist being bullied.

    11. He possesses legs that allow him to jump extremely high.

    12. He also possesses tremendous strength.

    13. His height of 1.87m (6ft 1 1/2in) offers him an advantage in aerial competitions.

    14. Over time, he has improved his stamina and work rate.

    15. He also possesses excellent eyesight and shooting skills.

    16. He is a versatile player who can play as a striker, support forward or offensive midfielder depending on the situation.

    17. With his striking skills, he can finish well both within the penalty box and from a distance with a precise and powerful shot.

    18. He’s known for his strong, bending free kicks, and he’s a set-piece specialist.

    19. He’s a skilled penalty taker.

    20. He has a distinct approach when it comes to free kicks.

    21. He’s also developed a signature stance before striking the ball, in which he stands with his legs spread wide apart.

    22. He is noted for employing the knuckleball method, which was popularized by Juninho Pernambucano earlier.

    23. As his age and physical aptitude have demanded, he has remade himself throughout the years.
