Nigerians’ Celebrities Are Nothing Without Social Media. Do You Agree On This?
Apaokaji Maryam, also known as Taaooma, a popular Instagram comedienne, stated that everyone is nothing without social media.
Taaooma made this statement in response to a comment on an Instagram post by popular fashion designer Yomi Casual, who stated that 21st-century celebrities should respect those who made it without the use of social media.
This comes after Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp were restored following a seven-hour global outage. In response to the outage, Yomi Casual, stated, “This should serve as a lesson to y’all 21st-century celebrities and online business owners.” Without the media, you are nothing! Be respectful to those who made it to the top without social media. #thestruggleisdifferent.”
Taaooma responded to Yomi Casual’s post by saying, “Right now, everyone is nothing without the media.” Thank you, social media, for allowing us to pursue our dreams and exhibit our work without relying on any organization or group of elites. Those who made it before social media were extremely fortunate. Why? We had less competition because we only knew about a few products, brands, and people. “We couldn’t even compare talents and celebrities; we ate and swallowed whatever content/professionalism/product quality was offered to us.” She stated.
