CAN WARNS NIGERIANS AGAINST PUBLIC GATHERINGS, ADVOCATES VIGILANCE
The Christian Association of Nigeria warned Christians to be security conscious and observe the COVID-19 protocols in places of worship and public gatherings.
The President of CAN, Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, said this in his Christmas message titled, ‘The power of His presence, our hope of tomorrow.’
He said, “As we rejoice and celebrate, let us be security conscious and observe the COVID – 19 protocols in our places of worship or in any public gathering for our general good.
“Christmas is not a myth, not a tradition, not a dream. It is a glorious reality. It is a time of joy. Bethlehem’s manger became the link that binds a lost world to a loving God. From the manger.”
The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and a former governor of the state, Gbenga Daniel, enjoined Christians in the state to celebrate Christmas with moderation .
Abiodun , in his Christmas message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, described year 2020 as most challenging one.
The governor said those fortunate enough to survive the vicissitudes of the year, especially the COVID-19 pandemic, must return glory to God and approach the season with thanksgiving and celebrate with moderation.
Abiodun said “I urge us all to continue to give thanks to the Almighty from the depth of our hearts as survivors of the dreaded coronavirus and 2020. We are all beneficiaries of divine benevolence, grace and glory.”
In his goodwill message, Daniel said notwithstanding the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, attendant economic hardships and the #EndSARS protests, Nigerians had more than enough reasons to thank God for in the year 2020.
Daniel said “Against forecasts and projections, the pandemic have been relatively managed in Nigeria as both fatalities and casualties that could have stretched out medical facilities beyond limits were greatly averted.
