Arrested Agitator, Sunday Igboho Extradition Hearing Commences Today In Cotonou
Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a. Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba Nation agitator, will have his extradition hearing today in Benin Republic.
In a video podcast on Wednesday night, Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, offered the indication.
Originally, the hearing was set for Wednesday. It did not, however, hold in Cotonou, due to protests by Yoruba Nation agitators. Cotonou Criminal Brigade operatives are holding Igboho.
He was apprehended while attempting to fly to Germany with his wife, Ropo, on Monday night at Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou.
Meanwhile, the legal complexity has taken on a new dimension, as reported by the Sahara Reporters. According to the report, the Beninois authorities want Igboho tried for possessing a fraudulent Beninois passport.
According to the news outlet, the authorities are defying Nigerian calls to hand over Igboho. Nigeria’s Ambassador to Benin Republic, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, is said to be exerting pressure.
Rafael Huvehnou is Igboho’s local lawyer. Huvehnou is also the President of the Benin Republic’s attorney.
It’s possible that Igboho will be given bail today.
