Angry youths barricade major road to protest accident in Osun community
Angry youths barricaded the main Osogbo-Ilesa route in Kajola town early Monday morning, protesting the knocking down of three children.
Witnesses told reporters that the enraged youths had lit bonfires on the road, obstructing vehicular traffic flow.
According to eyewitness Akeem Saliu, the accident occurred when the children, two boys and a girl from the same family, were struck by a private vehicle on their way to school on a busy route.
He added that the driver of the vehicle alighted immediately after the accident and transported the wounded to a nearby hospital.
As of press time, only one of the three victims had been resuscitated, and the others had not yet regained consciousness.
Motorists and commuters have found it impossible to navigate the road as a result of the blockade.
Agnes Ogungbemi, a spokesman for the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC), Osun Sector Command, informed this medium that she was aware of the accident, but that the Nigeria Police Force post at Kajola troops were the first responders.
The Osun Police Command’s Public Relations department also indicated that they had not yet been fully updated on the situation and promised to contact our correspondent as soon as feasible.
