Amotekun Corps reportedly murdered two partygoers in Ibadan
Two young guys were allegedly killed by Amotekun officers at Ajanla, in the Oke-Ado region of Oyo State’s Ibadan Southwest Local Government.
The deceased persons, identified as Abdullahi Ishola and Rashidi Mudashiru, as well as one Alaba Isa (pictured above), were said to be at a party organized by some youths in the area to celebrate the eve of Eid-el-Kabir when Amotekun officers allegedly stormed the venue and began shooting sporadically without asking anyone any questions, according to Radio Nigeria Ibadan. The errant rounds struck the deceased, killing them instantly and injured others.
MSikiru Apanpa, the coordinator of Amotekun in Ibadan Southwest Local Government, responded to the claim, saying the slain men and others were allegedly attempting to loot a shop near the Liberty Stadium end of Oke-Ado when security officials on patrol noticed them.
He explained that when two of the teens saw his troops, they informed others and began shooting at the officers right away. According to Apanpa, his men retaliated, killing two of the boys in the process, with the dead and injured being carried away by the survivors.
Alhaji Olayiwola Sulu-Ishola, the head of the family of one of the deceased, Abdullahi, has urged the Oyo State government to conduct a comprehensive investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.
