187 Zamfara Abduct Victims Reportedly Rescued By Nigerian Police
On Thursday, police tactical operatives in joint operations at Tsibiri forest in Maradun LGA rescued 187 abducted people from Rini village in Bakura LGA, Gora village in Maradun LGA, Sabon Birni village in Shinkafi LGA, and Shinkafi in Shinkafi LGA.
These villages are located in Zamfara State, which is located in northwest Nigeria.
According to a statement issued by SP Mohammed Shehu ANIPR, PPRO, the abducted victims who had been held captive for several weeks had been unconditionally rescued following hours of extensive search and rescue operations.
This was also accomplished as a result of the Zamfara State Government’s implementation of new security measures.
Assaults on identified bandit locations in various parts of the state have been carried out by the police and other security agencies in order to rid the state of all recalcitrant bandits and other criminal elements.
While handing over the rescued victims to the Governor’s Representative, Dr. Mohammed Bello Matawalle MON, and the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Kabiru Balarabe Sardaunan Dan Isa, the Commissioner of Police, Zamfara State Command, CP Ayuba N Elkanah, said that the new security measures in the state have yielded tremendous results, as it has led to the successful rescue of many abducted victims.
“These victims run into hundreds and have been reunited with their respective families. Similarly, bandits and their collaborators have been arrested, some have been charged to court while others are undergoing discreet investigation at the State CID Gusau. ” The Commissioner said.
The CP also stated that the police and other security agencies will continue to do everything possible to restore long-term peace and security to the state.
He expressed his condolences to the victims for their ordeal while imprisoned and promised that the Police will redouble their efforts to protect the lives and property of Zamfara State residents.
While taking over the rescued victims, the governor’s representative thanked the Police and other security agencies for their resilience and hard work in enforcing the new security measures and assured them of the state government’s ongoing support and encouragement to perform their duties effectively.
