10 Habits That Will Make You Smarter
Being smarter is wonderful, but it does not happen overnight. If you want to improve your intelligence and nourish your mind, you must develop habits that will help you do so.
Some people are born brilliant, but most smart people preserve their intelligence by daily rituals. They push and challenge themselves on a daily basis, whether in leadership, business, the arts, or another sector.
Here are ten practices that can help you become your most intelligent self:
1. Investigate everything.
Don’t make any assumptions or blindly follow conventional wisdom. Maintain a wide range of vision and mental faculties. The biggest opponent of knowledge is not ignorance, but the illusion of knowledge—and inquiry and curiosity are the greatest enemies of knowledge.
2. Read as much as you possibly can.
I began reading a book a day many years ago, and the wealth of knowledge I am accumulating every week is priceless. Make meaningful reading a habit, rather than celebrity gossip and web lists. Stick to your reading routine, even if it’s just a portion of a chapter each day, and your mind will be expanded.
3. Figure out what motivates you.
Find a topic that interests you and delve in. It’s easy to stay interested in a topic that interests you. Whether it’s a podcast or a newspaper, find a format that stimulates your intellect. Feed your mind with stuff that it will like.
4. Consider new ways to do old things.
To be innovative, one must prioritize imagination over the fear of being wrong. Even in your daily activities, you can be imaginative and adventurous. When you take chances, make mistakes, and have fun instead of following the same pattern. You’ll be reminded on a regular basis that imagination and creativity can transform the world.
5. Surround yourself with people who are wiser than you.
Smart people have intriguing topics to discuss. They know how to broaden and feed their minds, so spending time with them is beneficial on numerous levels. Look for them at work, in service groups, and in social settings.
6. Keep in mind that every expert was once a novice.
You become smarter when you have the opportunity to learn something new. Make it a point to learn new abilities on a regular basis, because life will never stop teaching you if you’re eager to learn.
7. Set aside time to contemplate.
We’re all so preoccupied that it’s easy to jump from one thing to the next without pausing to examine what it all means. Make time to pause and reflect; introspection is an essential element of the learning process.
8. Work out your body.
Don’t forget to take care of your body when you’re taking care of your mind. Develop the discipline to do what is required in terms of food, exercise, and sleep.
9. Encourage yourself to be more productive.
When you are busy and being productive does not mean the same thing. What you do creates the future you desire. Today’s smart folks make the most of it.
10. Create fresh ideas on a daily basis.
Carry a journal with you to jot down thoughts as they occur to you. Encourage yourself to be inventive and to think in novel ways. Examine your ideas on a weekly basis and edit them as you go.
Begin forming wise habits today and watch what happens to your thinking tomorrow.
